Capital Pride Celebrates 35 Years: “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” -- Grammy Award Winning Artist and Dancing with the Stars Runner-Up,

Washington, DC (Vocus) May 6, 2010 -- “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” has been ringing throughout the city in anticipation of Capital Pride’s 35th Anniversary. The 35th Anniversary of Capital Pride brings an array of events to appeal to the broad spectrum of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and straight allies. Capital Pride kicks off its celebration on Wednesday, June 2nd by honoring the 2010 Capital Pride Heroes and Capital Trans Pride Engendered Spirts, including one of Pride’s founders, Capital Pride Super Hero Deacon Macubbin. Throughout the festival, guests can enjoy more than forty different, diverse, and cultural events.

“This year, with more than 40 events planned, it really is a celebration produced by the community, for the community,” said Dyana Mason, Executive Director of Capital Pride. “We are especially excited to welcome our hometown ally, Mya to perform as our headlining act at the Capital Pride Street Festival, capping off what will be a fantastic 35th anniversary celebration.”

The highlights include: Capital Pride's 2010 Heroes and Engendered Spirits Awards Reception at the Madison Hotel on Wednesday, June 2nd; 'Spy a Spouse' LGBT singles mixer at the Spy Museum on Thursday, June 3rd; Pride at the Park on Sunday, June 6th at Six Flags America; the Capital Pride Town Hall 'Aging Proudly' on Monday, June 7th; Capital Pride’s 35th Anniversary Party at the Donovan House on Wednesday, June 9th; interfaith services, Capital Pride Shabbat, and more. Capital Pride's final weekend closes with Capital Trans Pride at the Madison Hotel on Saturday, June 12th, followed by 'DC’s Best Parade' (2008, 2009 Washington City Paper) – the Capital Pride Parade, and the ever-popular closing night party at the Renaissance Hotel on Saturday night. With the weekend capped with the all-day Capital Pride Street Festival, headlined by Mya, you ain’t seen nothing yet like the 35th anniversary of Capital Pride!
